Photos courtesy of the most rocking site NewMoonMovie.org. Seriously, I love their site.

I am sooo voting New Moon. I love the look so much better!!

Yes, I'm still here.....

Posted by john at 10:41 AM 0 comments
and here to complain. well, number one, because I haven't been posting. bad me.

number 2: I didn't like Harry Potter all that much, and Terminator: Salvation sucked. Terminator was a big letdown and i didn't even go see it. Harry Potter I saw, and thought it was ok. but JUST ok. the acting ROCKED. but didn't like the story.

I am not Kerstin, and I will not give a breakdown of the movie(s) because she is better at it and more knowledgeable in all things movie. I am strictly the "movie goer" who gives her opinion.

now...for happiness!

NEW MOON TRAILER! NEW MOON PICS! The makeup is 150% times better than in Twilight. so MUCH better. Everyone looks amazing (but I hate Jasper's hair). Chris Weitz seems to be doing a great job and the interviews are nothing but positive. I think New Moon will be a much better movie than Twilight.

Oh, forgot one thumbs down mention: G FORCE. run away. hide. do NOT see this movie. your kid will hate it and you for making him go to it. rent it. at Redbox for $1 it might be worth that.

now, back to happiness.....

Eclipse starts rehearsals this week! woo hoo!
Trailers are out for Percy Jackson! it better ROCK like the books.
Trailers for Avatar are out! not much content to them, but it still looks good.

so, that's it for now.

True Blood Season 2 Premier: Recap

Posted by Kerstin at 10:24 AM 0 comments
So if you haven't seen it, and don't want to be surprised by revelations, stop reading now.

Season 2 opened with a montage of last season to refresh our memories. The opening scene was that of Sookie and Tara and Andy finding a dead body in Andy's cop car. The automatic assumption was that it was Lafayette...but lo and behold it was Miss Jeanette, the woman who had performed the "exorcisms" on Tara and her mama. Someone had cut out her heart. Ew. So now the question is "where the hell is Lafayette".

Cut to Bill's house where Eric and Pam show up with Bill's turned girl Jessica who has become quite the pain in the ass to Eric who can't take her crap anymore and gives her to Bill to train. Bill isn't happy but there isn't much he can do about it. Sookie calls and tells him she'll be late due to the dead body in Andy's car.

Jason is sitting in bed reading The Fellowship of the Sun "bible" and really getting into it. He looks over to the empty side of his bed and gets all teary missing Amy.

At the crime scene Sookie is peeking into the thoughts of those around her and hears Tara thinking about Miss Jeanette. She urges Tara to come clean about her knowing the woman. Of course Andy drags her to the police station and in his drunken state gives her hell until her mama shows up and pretty much corroborates the story but is devastated to find out that Miss Jeanette was a fraud.

Maryann shows up to pick up Tara and confronts Tara's mom, pretty much telling her she was no good and didn't deserve Tara. She whisks Tara away leaving her mom standing there dumbfounded.

Then we're in a dungeon with several people chained to poles, Lafayette being one of them. (Lafayette lives!) The poles are on a circular track and they can all get up and move in a circle, but they have to do it together. A newcomer is brought to the dungeon and another is taken out. Lafayette hides behind a cement pole hoping he isn't picked to be taken upstairs. The newcomer turns out to be the redneck jerk off complaining about Lafayette's "AIDS burgers".

Sookie arrives at Bill's house to find Jessica and gets her panties in a wad about Bill turning Jessica. Not at all concerned that Bill did it because of her. )At this point, Sookie is making me insane with her flip floppy attitude.) Sookie goes home and Bill is left with Jessica and no sex. Poor Bill.

Next morning Reverend Newlin's (Killed in Season 1, leader of the Fellowship Church) son, Steve, is in a heated debated with the American Vampire League's Nan Flanagan. The end of the interview comes and Steve's wife chides him for being too preachy, since she has plans for the Governership of Texas. They head off to a sponsored breakfast where they meet Jason and invite him to a leadership camp for the church with a measly $1200 price tag. Jason scoffs at the price, but they tell him to pray on it and God will give him a sign. Ugh.

Sam shows up at Maryann's with a garbage bag. He is having flashbacks to his youth and showing up at her house. He goes immediately for a mound of food on the table and then notices the surroundings. He was pilfering her art when she catches him. Carl tells Sam Maryann is sleeping and Sam leaves.

At Sookie's house, her lawyer show up to tell her that her Great Uncle Bartlett the Pedophile has died and left her his financial holdings, amounting to about $11,000. She hears that Bartlett the Pedophile was found in the river in what looked like an accident. Sookie has doubts and it's clear she thinks foul play is afoot.

We're back at Maryann's where Tara and Eggs are having a nice chat by the pool. They talk a bit about their troubled pasts and share an almost kiss when they're interrupted by Maryann's houseboy Carl. Maryann gives Carl whatfor later in the house for having interrupted the kiss. Obviously she wants these two together.

Hoyt and Jason are working, talking about life and such when Sookie shows up with the check from Bartlett the Pedophile. She tells Jason what happened and that she doesn't want the money. She gives it Jason and leaves. Jason looks up and sees the sun and takes this is his Sign from God. Oh boy.

Sam is in his office having another vision of his past with Maryann. He is in her room and they are having sex. She starts to get that weird vibration around her and he freaks out. Later she's in the shower and he takes her jewelry and quite a bit of cash and bolts.

Back in the dungeon with Lafayette and Homophob they begin to talk about why they are there. The Homophob says maybe they should share their stories in case one of them escapes and the other can tell people about what happened. The homophob goes first talking about how got busy with his cousins girl, who could crush beer cans with her boobs. Nice trick. Oh, and how he got a blow job from a kid at safety patrol camp. Boys! Sheesh. Lafayette shares how he got in trouble for beating up a bigoted customer...That Lafayette...always finding humor in every situation.

At Bill's house, he's trying to get Jessica to drink Tru Blood but all she does is whine.

At Merlotte's, Maryann shows up to see Sam. Sam tries to give her money and she balks saying that's not what she wants from him. Tara and Eggs have another intimate moment and are able to kiss this time. This is in full view of Sam and Maryann who is clearly happy to see the hookup finally happen.

Sookie shows up, asks Bill if he killed Uncle Bartlett the Pedophile. He says yes. Sookie tells Bill they can't be together anymore. Bill pretty much says "I don't think so" and they end up in bed.

Eric shows up in the dungeon, with foil in his hair. Someone is trying to remain a true blonde. Eric unchains the Homophob telling him they have questions about a certain fire that killed three vampires. The Homophobe fights, throws a sliver cross at Eric's face. Eric loses his shit then and literally tears the Homophobe limb from limb. So much for questioning...Note to self: Don't throw silver crosses at vampires. Makes 'em mad.

Movie Review: Sunshine Cleaning and Angels & Demons

Posted by Kerstin at 10:10 AM 0 comments
So this weekend I did something I haven't done in years: a double feature movie marathon! I used to do this all the time in the hot Phoenix summers as a way to stay cool, but since moving to the Pac NW, I haven't really needed to stay cool! :)

Up first was Sunshine Cleaning. It was a wonderful and touching film. The story revolves around a family who is barely making ends meet in their daily jobs and accidentally stumble into the crime scene clean up business. Amy Adams stars as Rose, the more stable one in the family. She is a single mom and works for a house cleaning service. She is also sleeping with her high school boyfriend, played brilliantly by Steve Zahn, who is married with one child and one on the way. He puts the crime scene clean up biz in Rose's mind as a way to make good money. Meanwhile, Rose's sister Norah, played by Emily blunt is having trouble finding her way in life and reluctantly joins Rose in this business. Their father, Joe (Alan Arkin) is a man with a good heart but always a scheme to make quick cash. His schemes never really pan out and, like his daughters, is barely scraping by.

The story unfolds with reference to Rose and Norah's mother's suicide, Rose's decision to drop the boyfriend and get on with her life, Norah's decision to find her way on her own and Joe's decision to help Rose go into business for herself when "Sunshine Cleaning" is closed down due to property damage at one of their client's homes.

It was realistic and well acted. Not as funny as I thought it would be, but I'm glad it wasn't non stop laughter. I really felt for each character and could relate on some level to each of their problems.

I give it an A+ and highly recommend seeing it.

Next up was Angels & Demons. Now, I both read The DaVinci Code and saw the movie and was incredibly disappointed in how it translated to film. The book was wonderful. Non stop action and I couldn't wait for the end. Here's where it gets weird for me though. I thought the end of the book was an incredible let down, but LOVED how it translated to the film. I GOT IT when I watched it on screen. Not so much in the book.

I did not read Angels & Demons, but am sure it was a good book. I will say I enjoyed the movie, but didn't quite feel the sense of urgency that the movie seemed to try and convey.

It was well acted and I truly didn't realize who the bad guy was until the end of the movie. It worked well and think it was light years better than The DaVinci Code.

I recommend it, but think it would be ok to wait for the DVD release.

We Don't Suck!

Posted by Kerstin at 11:02 AM 0 comments
Ok, maybe we do. A little. But we're mom's. Therefore our lives are not always (hardly ever) our own. So...it's not completely our fault!

I also enjoyed the Twilight Movie Awards. Oh wait, MTV Movie Awards. Anyhoo, the show was pretty funny. Except I really didn't like the Leanne Rhimes/Forest Whitaker song. Those words should just not come out of their mouths. Otherwise, the show was damn funny, and I enjoyed the hell out of seeing all the Twilight awards. Sue me. I love the movie, sucky as it was.

And you are correct, I haven't seen Terminator. I wasn't all that excited about it since I wasn't a big fan of the movies before this one. I do love Christian Bale and Bryce Dallas Howard, so I'll probably catch it on DVD at some point.

So what's next? New Moon? Not until November. I am excited about Transformers 2 and Harry Potter. Can't think of much else that I'm dying to see...

Real Housewives of NJ

Posted by john at 11:00 AM 0 comments
OK, I'm in NJ. I live here. I'm not rich, but I don't live in a hovel either, and I can tell you......these chicks are NOT New Jersey. Nope. No one I know acts like any of these wackos.

But, I love the show. I guess I just love the Real Housewives franchise (well, not the OC or Atlanta......) These women are freaking hilarious. Bubbies....bubbies,.....bubbies. the word cracks me up.

of course, the allusions to the mafia, and all that crap is so frustrating. but I can't tear myself away.

why is my house in such need of cleaning? oh yeah, cuz I watch crap like this.

Terminator: Salvation

Posted by john at 10:57 AM 0 comments
OK, I haven't seen it yet.

I was so excited to see it, but the mixed reviews stopped me from spending my $$ at the theatre. Not a good way to boost the economy, huh? Oh well.....

I'd love to know if anyone saw it and what they thought of it though.

Kerstin, you haven't seen it, right? I keep hoping my daughter's boyfriend will take her to see it, but he hasn't yet. ugh

MTV Movie Awards

Posted by john at 10:54 AM 0 comments
Well, I guess they should have been called the Twilight Movie Awards. Twilight took everything except best song (damn Miley Cyrus).

I don't agree with all the winning, but hey...its fan based, so naturally Twilight would kick some butt.

It was great seeing Rob (but could someone please buy that boy some clothes? I think he wears the same thing all the time), and the other cast members. Kristen Stewart was acting really strange (sorry, not a KStew fan here)...but oh well.

And of course, all the trailers they premiered....Transformers 2, Harry Potter, and what was the last one? Oh Yeah, NEW MOON.

Basically, I wasted 2 hours of my life, but enjoyed the heck out of it.

New Moon Trailer

Posted by john at 10:45 AM 0 comments
Well, I loved it. Yes, I loved it. Here it is if you've been visiting Mars and missed it.

I think Chris Weitz did an awesome job with the CGI. The makeup looks LOADS better (but I don't like Jasper's hair. what's with the poufy hair?). And well, Edward....ah Edward. Jacob is smokin hot too. Great work, Taylor.

I know that some things we see in the trailers won't be in the movie (just like the "she's not one of us, Edward" from one of the many Twilight trailers), but this has got me very excited for November. I think this movie will be sooo much better!

Well, don't we just suck?

Posted by john at 10:43 AM 0 comments
May 21st? Seriously? That was our last post?

What?

if anyone out there actually looks at this site, I apologize.

We. Suck.

So, now....what have we missed?

ONLY THE FREAKING NEW MOON TRAILER, THE MTV MOVIE AWARDS, TERMINATOR: SALVATION PREMIERE, UP PREMIERE......

good lord...

so much to catch up on

New Moon Differences.....con't

Posted by john at 12:43 PM 0 comments
Well, I am alright w/there being more Edward. I'd love more and more and more Edward. Ha Ha

The lack of marriage proposal bugs me, mostly because Edward has his little speech to Bella that just melts my heart. Bella is explaining she was never "THAT girl, who got married right out of high school", etc.....And Edward retorts with "I was always THAT boy. The one who would get down on one knee and endevour to make you mine" (I paraphrase, but you get the idea)

I am going to miss the heck out of that. I've been looking forward to hearing Edward say that in the movie since the second I read it in the book. So, I'm going to be sad that that isn't in the movie.

BUT, and there's always a but, right? Maybe it will keep Bella from being the super whiny pain in the ass that she is in the books. I absolutely HATED the whiney baby crap she spewed over the proposal and getting married. I wanted to yell, "SHUT THE HELL UP, BELLA" Well, I did yell it, as a matter of fact.

I think this movie will be good, hopefully miles better than Twilight....and maybe the changes they make will make me hate Bella less than I did at the end of 4th book. but then again.......

New Moon: Differences

Posted by Kerstin at 11:20 AM 0 comments
So the internet is all abuzz today with the news that there are some vast differences to the New Moon the movie from New Moon the book.

InTouch Weekly is where it all started, so we have to take the news with a grain of salt for sure, but some of the information seems credible, and, sorry Dawn, even better than the book...

For instance, how could the movie survive with LESS Edward? It couldn't. So they've put Edward in Bella's psyche as more or less an apparition when she is trying to get him to talk to her in her head. Wow...that's confusing, but it makes sense.

Secondly, it seems there will NOT be a proposal from Edward to Bella in order to get him to change her to a vampire. Now I realize this is a hard pill to swallow for serious Twi-hards out there, but I kind of like the notion. One thing many of us tend to forget is this book series was intended for young adults...not us 30+ y/o moms. So the idea of having a young girl see a movie where she is manipulated into marrying someone at such a young age would bother even me. Don't get me wrong, it's romantic as hell, and given that my own parents were married at 16 and 18, I don't necessarily think it's completely bad. But you sure as hell don't want to go around romanticizing marriage to teenage girls. Bad idea.

I'm stoked for this movie simply because my favorite characters have major scenes: Jasper and the birthday party and Alice in Italy.

Hopefully, the fans will accept whatever comes down when the movie opens in November.

Which New Moon Scene are You Dying To See?

POLL: Which New Moon Scene Are You Dying to See?
By Kiran Hefa and Alina Soler

The Twilight sequel, New Moon, packs a bite – and ripped abs! The love triangle between Bella, Edward and Jacob is causing waves online with the release of the official New Moon poster and the news that the movie's trio, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, will introduce a clip from the sequel at the MTV Movie Awards on May 31.

Out of the four scenes below, tell us which one you're dying to see the most:

1. Bella's Bloody Birthday
Alice surprises Bella with an extravagant bash at the Cullen house in celebration of the mortal's 18th birthday, but Bella accidentally cuts herself while unwrapping gifts, which triggers new "vegetarian" Jasper to pounce on her in a fit of uncontrollable bloodlust. Though Edward is able to shield Bella from the attack, the episode serves as a grave reminder of the dangers that will always plague their relationship.

2. Boys to Wolves
Bella replaces one mythical creature for another when she discovers good friend Jacob Black is actually a werewolf. Breaking their code of secrecy, Jacob takes Bella to meet the rest of his pack and immediately finds himself in a paw-to-paw duel with one of his own. A frightened Bella witnesses both boys morph mid-air into wolves as they fight.

3. Bella & Jacob's Joy Ride
Deadset on being "stupid and reckless" after Edward's disappearance, Bella purchases two junk motorcycles and convinces trusty mechanic Jacob to repair them. Bella crashes during their test drive, prompting a hallucination of Edward's voice, scolding her for her carelessness.

4. The Race to Save Edward
Believing Bella has died, a distraught Edward journeys to Volterra, Italy to evoke the wrath of the Volturi – an ancient band of peace-keeping vampires – who will kill him for outing their supernatural secret. Frantically making their way through the city, Bella and Alice reach the Palazzo dei Priori just in time to prevent Edward from stepping out into the sunlight and revealing his true, sparkling self.

you say "We'll see how excited I get over Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. If I were you, I wouldn't hold my breath on those..."

I say.....BS TO THE MAX!!!!

We also said we wouldn't want to see New Moon. Uh, who's counting the days? We ARE!

Girl, when it comes to Rob, Jackson, Peter, Ashley, Kellan and the Volturi....you know we are SO THERE. (well, except Breaking Dawn, which pisses me off and now even more since they said they were making it PG-13. I want VAMPIRE SEX on the screen!)

Star Trek, Dancing with the Stars and Cannes Hotness

Posted by Kerstin at 12:44 PM 0 comments
Well, Dawn has been a busy bee today so I guess I better get my ass in gear! Starting with Star Trek.

Seriously, how awesome was this movie? Fucking awesome, that's how awesome it was. I was excited before I saw it, excited WHILE I saw it, even more excited when I saw it again, and then again, and yet one more time. It truly gets better every time.

Let's start with the cast. Perfect. Absolutely brilliant casting right down to "Crewman #6" who bit the big one, as Crewman #6 is wont to do in Star Trek movies. There was a perfect blend of the old cast characteristics and the new cast marking their place in history as the new crew. The action was almost non stop and the mix of drama and quick comedic turns was inspirational. It was just THAT good. If you haven't seen it, what the HELL are you waiting for????

Dawn is the resident DWTS expert, so I'll defer to her post. But can I just say...how hot is Gilles? Smokin!

Rob Pattinson. Forget Calgon...Cannes, take me away. As Dawn knows, I've been less than excited about the continuation of the Twilight Saga, but the new poster (below), the hotness of Rob Pattinson and Michael Sheen joining the cast has me all a twitter with excitement for the next installment. We'll see how excited I get over Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. If I were you, I wouldn't hold my breath on those...

Oh, I'm so going to Cannes!

Star Trek - THE Movie

Posted by john at 8:40 AM 0 comments
Well, I saw this on the opening weekend and I have to say......IT ROCKED!!!!

I thought the casting was absolutely spot on, the acting was great (so NOT the over the top TV Star Trek acting) and the plot line was interesting. Great action, excellent special effects (or do we say CGI instead?).

I was so happy throughout the entire movie!

It was a movie I could see more than once.

BRAVO!

Trekkies Review the "New" Star Trek!

Posted by Kerstin at 10:09 AM 0 comments
Trekkies Attack New Star Trek As Too Entertaining

When you need real hard jouralism, everyone knows you turn to The Onion. I’ve loved this paper for years and the videos they make are far better than anything you’ll ever see on Saturday Night Live (in my opinion anyway). Their latest video report is on the backlash Trekkies are having against the new Star Trek movie because it makes too much sense and is too watchable. My favorite line: “If I wanted to watch young attractive people doing exciting things, I’d stay home and watch sports”.

Real Housewives of NYC - The Finale - A sort of recap

Posted by Kerstin at 9:41 AM 0 comments
Well, both Dawn and I missed the episode last night! Can you believe it? But I did watch some clips and read most of the blogs. It sounds like we pretty much caught all the drama in the previews, so I can't say I'm sorry I missed it.

BUT!!!!!

If you haven't caught any of the "Reunion" videos, check them out below. It looks like it's going to be a good one. My thoughts: The Whack Job is still as crazy as ever. I won't post her video, but you can check it out at Bravo TV. Ramona is insane, with a side of crazy. I just don't understand how she hasn't been institutionalized yet.

David Slade’s thoughts on the Twilight saga

As we all know, a few weeks ago Summit announced that David Slade would direct Eclipse. But now, SlashFilm has uncovered an interview piece involving David that reveals he may not be too big a fan of the Saga.

During an interview on Washington DC’s WJFK late last year, David was asked what film he may see next, and Twilight was brought into question. He then said, “Twilight drunk? No, not even drunk? Twilight on acid? No, not even on acid. Twilight at gun point? Just shoot me.”

You can read a transcript and listen to what David said right here on SlashFilm

Dawn's Opinion: I have a feeling he was joking, but who knows? I LOVE the movie, but don't think its the best movie I've ever seen. But, I cannot help but watch it!!!

NEW YORK – It's "Twilight" versus "Slumdog Millionaire" at this year's MTV Movie Awards.

MTV says the Oscar-winning Indian romance and the vampire blockbuster have six nominations each, including best movie. "Slumdog" star Dev Patel and "Twilight" vamp Robert Pattinson are both nominated for the breakthrough performance award.

Other nominated films include "Iron Man," "The Dark Knight" and "High School Musical 3: Senior Year."

Votes can be cast online at MTV's Web site through May 27 for all categories except best movie. MTV says voting in that category will remain open through the live event, which will air May 31 from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.

Oh No Ramona!

Posted by john at 8:23 AM 0 comments
Continuing on the RHNYC Finale preview.....

Ramona does indeed promote herself as a paragon of virtue, telling everyone what is wrong and right....talking about her wonderful, perfect life.

But, Ramona darling, some things stick out to me. As Simon/Alex said, you were filmed kissing and playing "affectionately" with a former Playboy Playmate...then turned around and freaked out on Alex when nude photos of her surfaced. You talk about how Avery is her own person and you won't force her into anything, but yet in Season 1 you dragged her around for "modeling/acting" gigs....and gave crappy advice no less. You talk about how you do all these "natural" things to stay "young", yet you make regular visits to the plastic surgeon for treatments that no one could afford. Oh, and you're now trying to sell us on your new skin care line that will make us look young like you? Uh, are you taking me to your plastic surgeon if I buy some of your moisturizer? I think not, Ramona dear.

You rag on and on about Jill, but honey, Mario is wigging out this season. His blogs are snarky, insensitive, rude, and downright ugly. At least Simon treats you all with respect, no matter how rude you are to him. Personally, I'd have bitch slapped you LONG before now. You "tell it like it is"? Its called RUDE, Ramona. R.U.D.E.

Oh, and that Duzoxin crap you and the OC housewives are trying to shove down our throats? Well, the list of ingredients have a couple of the "dirty dozen" that the FDA WARNS everyone should AVOID. Ingredients with worse side effects than Ephedra (do you remember Ephedra?)

So, now in your journey to knock down the friendship between Jill and Bethanny, you create "drama" at Jill's charity event, when you know jill is tired, stressed, etc. Shame on you, Ramona Darling (insert Luanne's voice for effect). You show yourself to be the jealous, insecure woman you are. And again I say, shame on you.

Grow up. Your daughter has more maturity.

Wow....where did THAT rant come from?

Real Housewives of NYC - The Finale

Posted by Kerstin at 7:47 AM 0 comments
So Dawn and I were chatting yesterday about the season finale of the Real Housewives of NYC. Specifically the reason Bethenny and Jill get into it at the fundraiser.

Apparently it all comes down to all the advertising Bethenny put up at the bar during the fundraiser. Especially after Ramona gives a big slap on the hand to Jill about how inappropriate it is for the chairperson to advertise their own business at the fundraiser they are chairing. Ramona did have a point, but if it were me, and there was no money coming in from advertising, you bet your ass I'd be putting money in the pot and getting some advertising out of it.

Of course, even though Ramona makes herself out to be this paragon of virtue on the subject of what is and isn't appropriate when chairing an event, I do notice that she doesn't hesitate to do a little self promotion with her makeup line in the swag bags!

Anyway, Jill was pissed at Bethenny's obvious self-promotion during the event and probably said something snarky. I'm sure Bethenny took offense to it, and with these two women and their "tell it like it is" attitudes, I'm sure there were fireworks seen for miles.

Check out what happens:

RHNYC Recap

Posted by Kerstin at 10:39 PM 0 comments
Oh LORD did we have a show tonight! A few highlights and thoughts:

1. The Van Kempens remodel became a furious frenzy of activity while they tried to get done in time for their house warming party. They started out at Zarin's to get window treatments where Jill about had a coronary watching the Van Kempen heathens run riot through her store. It was actually pretty funny, but had it been me, I'd have chained them to a desk. I can't believe these two think they can write a book on parenting. Mind boggling. The renovation was complete on time and the party started with the Whack Job arriving VERY early. Not by choice though, she just gave herself extra time she didn't need. And awkwardness ensued until Bethenny arrived. Everyone except Ramona and Luann came and the party was a success.

2. Luann invites TWJ to drinks with herself and her nieces. TWJ acts like a flippy 20 year old playing with her hair and making no sense at all. When Luann asks TWJ what it takes to (metaphorically) let her hair down, the woman literally lets her hair out of her half pony tail and does the weirdest hair toss and smile I've ever seen. It was sad people. Just sad. Luann was a little taken aback with TWJ's behavior. Which I'm sorry, WHO doesn't see what a complete fruitcake TWJ is? I just don't get how people are attracted to this nutter.

3. Bethenny was set up on a blind date by her hairdresser. Apparently it was a model friend of his. Bethenny scoffed at first but decided to go anyway. While getting the dirt on her blind date, she made a pact with her "token gay" friend that if she wasn't married by the time she was forty, they would get married and he'd give her a baby. Seemed to be a sound proposition so he agreed. Whatever. She then laid out the blind date plans to Jill and got all weepy about her choice to put her career before finding a romantic partner. She recovered and went on the blind date with Phillipe. Looks like it could be something fun for Betheny. I hope so. I think a good lay will do her wonders.

4. Jill confronted Whack Job at the Van Kempen party about her being late for the party last week. All was forgiven, unfortunately, and Jill was a good sport. The Whack Job left the party early and Jill began to plot a meeting between TWJ and Bethenny to clear the air. Already I can see this isn't going to end well.

5. The showdown between TWJ and Bethenny at the next fundraiser party. TWJ arrives and fawns over Jill's POP tables which Jill immediately says how much she hates. But of course TWJ LOVES. Bethenny takes TWJ aside and tries to make the peace. Bethenny brings up the past which seems to set TWJ off. She immediately tells Bethenny how she's making a mountain out of a mole hill. And TWJ acts like she doesn't know what the hell Bethenny is talking about when she tries to confront her about the bar scene in which TWJ literally tore Bethenny up one side and down the other, making her out to be the red headed step child at Cinderella's ball. The fact that TWJ is talking about being an adult is ridiculously hilarious. When TWJ tells her she's adorable in that Zac dress, I about lost it! TWJ is definitely a quart low.

The preview for next week...boy howdy! Jill and Bethenny throw down. The fight of the boobies!!!!! LOL

Melissa Rosenberg and Twilight, part 2

Posted by john at 10:50 AM 0 comments
Oh my.....I should have titled this "Confessions of a Crazed Twilight Movie Madman"

Before Twilight (the movie) came out in theatres, I was literally OBSESSED with finding all things related to the movie. Fansites, trailers, gossip, photos.....AND MOVIE CLIPS! Yes, someone would post a link on a fansite and I'd run over to youtube and watch it. And yes, I'd call up Kerstin and force her to watch or deal with the penalty of me telling her all about it. The 8 minutes of Twilight from a Rome preview? Yep, I watched it. And loved it. Kerstin held off. Well, until I kept going on and on and on and on about it.

I LIKE seeing the clips, trailers, photo stills and all that. Hey, I don't even want to wait for Christmas to open my presents. I wait, but I don't want to. I TOLD Kerstin what I got her for christmas, for pity's sake.

So bring it on, Summit! Inundate me with trailers, sizzle reels, photo stills and whatever else you can send my way. Just DON"T send Rob on that awful Promo Train you had him on last time. THAT was cruel and unusual punishment. Give me a couple of GOOD interviews (MTV, please, NOT Entertainment Tonight) with Rob and the cast and let that be it. It was sad last year. They all looked awful by the time the movie came out. Anyway.....

I guess we agree to disagree? LOL

Thoughts on New Moon by the Screenwriter

Posted by Kerstin at 10:35 AM 0 comments
Well, Melissa Rosenberg sure has been making the rounds lately. Talking Channing Tatum and MPAA ratings for future Twilight Saga movies. Mark Malkin of E! Online reports the following straight from Melissa:

Rosenberg also confirmed some good news for Robert Pattinson fans...

Even though Edward Cullen may not be in the New Moon novel as much as he is in the others, she promised we’ll be seeing plenty of the Brit actor in the flick, which is currently shooting in Vancouver with director Chris Weitz.

“In the book, he’s actually an enormous presence in [Bella’s] mind,” Rosenberg said. “He’s so present in her mind throughout the entire center of the book, so we really played off that, and it kept him alive in a slightly different way, but fans will feel it’s true to the book. You can’t have a Twilight without Rob Pattinson.”

Huh. You can't have a Twilight without Rob Pattinson? Sorry, I thought you couldn't have a Twilight without Edward Cullen. Seems to me both Summit and Melissa Rosenberg are over exposing Rob Pattinson and many of the other actors for this movie, and it's bordering on serious exploitation. I hope it doesn't backfire.

As an adult fan of Twilight (not so much the rest of the books), and of course the actors from the film, I am almost to a point where I don't want to know much more. I feel like we'll have seen all the films far before they are ever released. New Moon is set to release on November 20.

Summit, heed this advice: Sometimes, LESS is more.

Terminator: Salvation

Posted by john at 9:31 AM 0 comments
I think we have discussed Christian Bale and his freak out, but don't know if we've talked about the movie.....

I AM SO PSYCHED TO SEE THIS MOVIE!

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the first Terminator (loved Arnold in that)! T2 rocked my world (I want Linda Hamilton's arms)! T3....it was good, but not my fave. But seriously, if its Terminator, I am probably loving it. My name is Dawn and I'm a Terminator Freak. Deal with it!

That said, this installment looks freaking awesome! I love Christian Bale (in the movies. his personal life has issues, but I'm not going there) and think he will be an AMAZING John Connor.

Channing Tatum and the rumor

Posted by Kerstin at 7:39 AM 0 comments
With the recent report of Channing Tatum, most recently seen in Fighting, and soon to be seen in the upcoming GI Joe:The Rise of the Cobra with Dennis Quaid, Jonathan Pryce and Marlon Wayans, sinking his teeth (get it?) into the role of Riley in the upcoming Twilight Saga movie Eclipse, I have to say I think it will work. He has that bad boy brood down pretty good. I don't care if Melissa thinks he's good or not. She hasn't impressed me all that much so far! :) Plus, he would look AWESOME as a platinum type blonde don't you think? It would make his features even more menacing!

Check out the trailer for GI Joe: The Rise of the Cobra:

Channing Tatum in Eclipse?

Posted by john at 7:25 AM 0 comments
From Imnotobsessed.com:

Rumor has it that Channing is up for the role of Riley in the third 'Twilight' movie, 'Eclipse'. I love how they are actively working on the third movie while the second one is still being filmed. LOL!

Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg is desperate to sign former model Tatum as the nasty vampire and tells E! Online,

"There’s a very big battle at the end with Riley, and I think Channing would do that so well. And there are some complexities to that character. He really is tragic. He’s a puppet for Victoria (vampire character). So he has to break your heart a little bit at the end when he realizes that she doesn’t want him. Channing could do that beautifully."

well, I don't know this actor at all. but if Melissa thinks he would be great, then I guess I trust that. we'll see. I pictured him as very blond, don't know why, but I did.

Dancing With The Stars

Posted by john at 7:09 AM 0 comments
This was an interesting episode. Tony walks out w/o Melissa (his partner).....WHAT? Where is she? Turns out she has a hairline fracture of her rib and can't dance. OH NO! They are judged on their rehearsal (NOT dress rehearsal) and got 7's. Poor Tony! I felt sooo bad for him. Seriously, I thought he would cry. I voted for him a couple of times. Big Tony fan.

My boy Gilles did the Lindy Hop. His outfit was awful. Why do that to someone so wonderful. I think he was underscored. He got 9's, but thought he did better than that.

Not going to go through all the dancers...just my favs. why? well, cuz its our blog and we can! Ha Ha! Ty Murray (Jewel's husband) had the Salsa. I loves me some Ty. What a cutie. I thought he did great, but Len (the judge) said he should hit the trail. OH NO YOU DIDN"T, LEN!

The group dance off was next. Mambo vs. Tango. My man Gilles, Ty, and Lil Kim (along w/their partners) did the Tango. AWESOME. Ty and Gilles shirtless at first. what more can be said. perfection! Lil Kim rocked it. The whole team worked great together. They scored high. I was sooo happy for that team

Shawn, Chuck, and Lacey (standing in for Melissa) did the Mambo. so much fun. at the end, the boys (Tony, Mark, and Chuck) ripped off their outfits and did the dance a la Justin Timberlake for Single Ladies. HILARIOUS. But overall, their dance fell flat compared to the Tango Team.

According to Dialidol.com, Ty and Lil Kim are in the bottom 2. I think Ty will go home, although I wish like heck that Chuck would get off my screen. Can't stand him. Maybe Dialidol is wrong, but they're usually spot on (they measure the busy signals). I dunno....I called in for Ty and couldn't get through except for twice.

well, we'll see. Supposedly Melissa will be able to continue. she's a good dancer, so hopefully she will come back. for Tony's sake, I hope she does.

New RPatz Movie

Posted by Kerstin at 4:02 PM 0 comments
I think Rob is going to be an actor to keep an eye on...I hope he doesn't go the way of Orlando Bloom though. He has a ton of potential and, I think despite the weirdness that is the Twilight Series (and you know I LOVE it), he'll get really far in Hollywood. I'm looking forward to hearing more about Memoirs.

Happy Birthday to Casey Kassem!

Today is Casey Kasem's birthday. The radio host (American Top 40, 20 and 10) and television voice actor (Shaggy and Transformers) turns 77 today. In 1985 he was inducted into the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
I was actually shocked to see he was only 77...I thought he was MUCH older! But then, I'm a terrible judge of age!

Rob Pattinson in new movie for Summit

from MTV

'Twilight' Star Robert Pattinson Lands Lead Role In 'Remember Me'
Film tells the story of star-crossed lovers plagued by family tragedy.
By Eric Ditzian

While Robert Pattinson is deep into filming the "Twilight" sequel "New Moon" for Summit Entertainment, the studio has tapped the 22-year-old British star for another project about star-crossed lovers.
Pattinson will play the lead role in "Remember Me," a story of a young couple whose burgeoning relationship is complicated by a succession of family tragedies that test their bond, according to ScreenDaily.com. The makers of the film, which had previously been titled "Memoirs," have not yet settled on which actress who will play Pattinson's love interest.
Emmy-winning director Allen Coulter ("The Sopranos," "Damages") will direct, and Jenny Lumet, who penned the script for last year's critical darling "Rachel Getting Married," is working on a draft of the screenplay.
After "New Moon" wraps in May, Pattinson will head to New York to shoot "Remember Me," which will finish in time for the actor to begin filming the third "Twilight" movie, "Eclipse," in August.
Summit is staying tight-lipped about plot specifics, but co-chairman and CEO Patrick Wachsberger likened "Remember Me" to "Love Story," the classic 1970 romance starring Ali MacGraw and Ryan O'Neal.
Landing the "Remember Me" lead marks the first major role for Pattinson since he rocketed to public adulation for his portrayal of vampire Edward Cullen in the "Twilight" franchise. He had been signed to appear alongside Rosario Dawson in "Parts per Billion," but was forced to drop out due to his "New Moon" commitment. Pattinson will next be seen in May's "Little Ashes," the Salvador Dalí biopic he shot before "Twilight." His "Twilight" co-star Kristen Stewart has already landed some meaty roles since the vampire series became a big box-office success, including a turn as real-life rocker Joan Jett in "The Runaways."

I Want My MTV!

Posted by john at 3:36 AM 0 comments
Back in the day, when Twilight (the movie) was starting to film, no one took much notice except for Larry Carroll and MTV (well, and all of us fans of the books). Larry interviewed the cast, had "Twilight Tuesdays" and kept us up to date on all things Twilight. Of course, there were other interviews, articles, etc...but none as consistent as MTV.

Then....the "Twilight Phenomenon" hit. Suddenly, all the media wanted in on it. I'm pretty sure the same 50 questions were asked over and over again for the last 4 months of last year. Who gave the fans what they wanted to know? You got it....Larry and MTV.

Why am I even talking about this? The LAME-O "New Moon Sneak Peek" that Entertainment Tonight did last night. They have been hyping this for weeks, and although I said I wouldn't watch, I did (bad me). Well, I just have to say, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" I pretty much saw the whole interview in all their teasers leading up to it. No "inside" secrets, no good questions.

The interviewer asks Taylor Lautner.....GASP....if he is SINGLE? Asks Rob Pattinson who would he want his sister to date.....Edward or Jacob? Again....are you kidding me?

This is not what I want. I want information, scoops, fun and INTELLIGENT interviews. Not stupid questions that we can see in Life & Style magazine, or better yet, J-14 (have you seen that tween mag? ugh)

I WANT MY MTV. So long ET, you're not doing it for me.

Kerstin Says: Pass.

Barely earning a living selling counterfeit goods on the streets, his luck changes when scam artist Harvey Boarden sees that he has a natural talent for streetfighting. When Harvey offers Shawn help at making the real cash, the two form an uneasy partnership. Almost overnight, he becomes a star brawler, taking down professional boxers, mixed martial arts champs and ultimate fighters in a series of staggeringly intense bouts. But if Shawn ever hopes to escape the dark world in which he’s found himself, he must now face the toughest fight of his life. Starring Channing Tatum and Terence Howard.
Kerstin Says - I'll wait for the DVD...and maybe for a while after that.

The Soloist - A homeless musician with schizophrenia dreams of playing at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Starring Robert Downey, Jr and Jamie Foxx.
Kerstin Says: The trailers remind me of Reign Over Me, which was a fantastic film but sad as all get out...so I will see this, only I'll wait until I need a good cry.

Vampires Really Do Eat!

Posted by Kerstin at 10:14 AM 0 comments
If you're a Twilight fan, you know that Peter Facinelli plays Dr. Carlisle Cullen. And you also know he's married to 90210 actress Jennie Garth. According to E!'s Mark Malkin, Jennie's a little upset with Peter at the moment! I guess ol' Pete made the cast dinner and when Jennie got wind of it, had this to say:

“I am pissed off, because he doesn’t make me pasta dinners,” Garth said the other day at the Feeding America and Healthy Choice event in Beverly Hills. “I don’t know when was the last time the man cooked for me!”

Well Peter...looks like you've got some making up to do! And probably a whole lotta cooking!

Let's Catch Up with the RHWNYC

First let me start by saying that the costume party looked like a ton of fun! I wish I was that fabulous. I would love to have gone to that! Everyone was adorable. Even Ramona, and Jill's attack dog. And that whole bit about making

But let's get down to the nitty gritty...The Whack Job was late. I know, I was shocked too. Seriously though, why is anyone surprised at that? As far as I can tell she's never early to anything. That would drive me insane. But, then when doesn't she do something that drives me insane. I wonder about her. Not too much though for fear I become a candidate for the macadamia ranch.

How cute was Victoria's homecoming with Luann? It's evident Luann misses her, but is also so proud of her. It was such a nice thing to see on this show.

That little Avery child or Ramona's needed a lesson in manners. But given that she's Ramona's kid, I can see why she acts the way she does. What a pain in the butt!

Thoughts on Plagiarism and Stephenie Meyer

Posted by Kerstin at 1:52 PM 0 comments
OK, I am glad she posted her little missive about not being sued for plagiarism. I mean, at least now we know she isn't actively being sued.

But I think we all know that her ideas are hardly original, so a plagiarism lawsuit wouldn't seem like a far stretch. She claims to have never read a vampire story before, but I swear she must have been near some vampire books and absorbed the information via osmosis, because she sure has A LOT of similarities to other previously published vampire novels.

And another thing...she just irks me. I don't know why. She's never really done anything overly stupid, but there is something about her that just seems so...fake. Oh, wait, I know what it is. She LIES!

Sheesh.

Stephenie Meyer Responds To Lawsuit Claims

Posted by john at 1:04 PM 0 comments
From StephenieMeyer.com

There are a lot of things I should be doing updates on—for example, how awesome and successful the Book Babe event was, and how cool it was to meet all the other authors and hang out with them a little bit, and how much I appreciated all the tremendous support from the fans—but instead of commenting on happy things (which I admit I should have done a week ago; I was waiting for things to slow down for a day, silly me!), I'm commenting on ridiculous internet rumors so that my publicist's day will be just a little bit better.

I am not being sued. No one has contacted me or my publisher to inform either of us that I'm being sued. I never had a roommate named Heidi. There is no professor in the BYU English department named Dr. Peter Benton (though there is a character on ER by that name). And most of all, I began writing Twilight exactly the way I've told people in countless interviews and events for the past six years: I had a cool dream, I wrote it down, writing it down was really fun, so I kept writing until I had a whole book.

The sad thing about this silly situation is that so many legitimate news outlets reported it without doing any research at all to determine if there was any truth to the story. And at least two of these facts are really, really easy to confirm. Particularly, the one about the BYU professor. A simple on-line search can give you that information. Also, a quick call to my publisher would have cleared up the whole lawsuit story. (Kudos to the fansites who did their due diligence and debunked this rumor days ago.)

I guess the moral of the story is that—big surprise—you can't believe everything you read on the internet. Seems like it's April Fool's Day every day on-line. So no worries, the filming of New Moon continues uninterrupted. And, to end this on a bright note, the filming of New Moon continues to be awesome. It's all so beautiful! Chris Weitz is brilliant. Kristen, Rob, and Taylor are beyond words. I have gotten choked up more than once on set due to their amazing performances. I can't wait to see it all put together!

I am glad to hear Stephenie is pleased with what she's seen of New Moon so far. And, I'm glad she cleared up the rumors. (I still think some of her ideas are pretty similar to other authors' works though!)

Real Housewives

good grief. this looks to be a wacky episode. what is Kelly doing in that picture? she looks like those Weimaraners that posed for the alphabet on Sesame Street. of course, she doesn't seem to come up w/original ideas, so that wouldn't surprise me.

Holy Crawfish! True Blood is Back!

Unfortunately, I do not get HBO. Nope, too cheap to pay the price. So, I suffer from not getting to see it. I'll rent Season 1 from Netflix, just like I did the Sopranos and be a season behind.

BUT, I did read several of the Sookie Stackhouse books. I LOVED them. So, I will get updates from you and discuss how the series differs from the book.

It looks incredible. I love Stephen Moyer. What is it with Brits playing vampires w/American accents? Rob Pattinson, Stephen Moyer..... and a SOUTHERN accent to boot. that's tough, in my opinion. guess they just do it better!

Box Office Weekend Tally

So my boy Zac pulled it out this weekend, taking the number one spot in the box office charts. 17 Again beat out State of Play by almost $10MM. Monsters vs. Aliens hung in there to take the number three spot with a now grand total of $162,723,000 in box office sales. Hanna Montana: The Movie and Fast and Furious rounded out the top five for the weekend of April 17-19.

Check out Box Office Mojo for the complete weekend list.

Weekend Roundup - Twilight, etc.

Posted by Kerstin at 10:48 AM 0 comments
Dawn...I couldn't have said it better myself. Whether the plagiarism claim was true or not, it is quite clear Ms. Meyer hardly had original thoughts for her vampire series. But you're right, if you're going to do it, OWN it.

Plus, I'm still on the fence about Jackson's hair. You know I love me some Jackson, but that hair was just...odd. I also know that what we see in regular pictures rarely translates the same on film, so I'll hope for the best there.

So, I also got into yet ANOTHER television series this weekend. Like I really needed that. But anyway. I started watching The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency. It is fabulous.
Jill Scott and Anika Noni Rose are really great, and apparently the only actors who are American. The rest of the cast are locals and are just wonderful.

As a young girl growing up in the African nation of Botswana, Precious Ramotswe was encouraged by her father to follow her dreams, no matter what. Now in her mid-30s, Precious is doing just that — by opening her country's first and only female-owned detective agency for the benefit of those who need help the most.

f you have a chance to see it, I highly recommend it.

Twilight (New Moon) Updates

Posted by john at 10:30 AM 0 comments
So, apparently, they are done filming the "party scene" at the Cullen House. Kellan Lutz, Peter Facinelli (deep sigh), and Elizabeth Reaser left Vancouver and headed back to LA. According to Twilighters.org, Rob in off to London for a week before heading to film in Italy. I cannot WAIT to see how they do the Volterra scene, especially with Bella pushing her way through the crowds to get to Edward before he walks out into the sun. I hope Chris Weitz does it RIGHT and then some. Melissa Rosenberg better NOT screw up this scene the way she did the meadow scene in Twilight (which wasn't even a meadow scene...it was a FOREST scene.....rant over).

Also, the rumor that Stephenie Meyer stole her college roommate's idea for Twilight is now being labeled as false by Summit. Seems like this roommate would have had to live under the polar ice caps to NOT know about Twilight before now (of course, they say those ice caps are melting due to Global Warming, so maybe she WAS stuck under one)......but hey, you never know, as they say.

That said, there are so many ideas in these books that pop up in earlier books by other authors. I don't really think I buy her stance that she never read a Vampire novel before Twilight. Hello? Sookie Stackhouse, anyone? She can read everyone's mind EXCEPT Vampire Bill's? sound familiar? Bill "Glamours" people (sounds like Dazzle, anyone?) OK, I won't stay on this wagon any longer. Just saying, maybe she did get some ideas from places other than her "dream", but I'll never know. I just say, if you did, OWN it. LIVE it. Don't try to deny it.

Oh, yeah.....pics from the Cullen House popped up all over this weekend. Jackson's hair? Well, the jury is out until I see more pics. BUT, overall, I love the way the makeup is looking. Much better thanTwilight.

that's it for now...

I rented BOLT for the boy last night. I am not a fan of Miley Cyrus, but he wanted to see the movie.

I liked the movie. Yes, I liked it. Unlike most animal flicks, it didn't make me cry (no laughing). John Travolta was a good dog (ha ha). And I don't know who played the cat, but he or she was good.

going to go and rekindle my hatred of Hannah Montana by turning on the Disney Channel now.

Weekly Roundup

Posted by Kerstin at 9:01 AM 0 comments
It's been kinda quiet around Reel Gossip Girls this week, but we'll be back on track on Monday. In the meantime, here's a roundup of movies for this weekend, and some new content for upcoming films.

Check out three new TV Spots added to the Official Star Trek Website. Only three weeks!

New in theatres this weekend:

17 Again - Starring my new secret crush Zac Efron, Matthew Perry and Michelle Trachtenberg. It's getting good reviews so I'll definitely add this one to my list of must sees!

State of Play
- Rather than tell you who's in the movie, I'll tell you who's not. Brad Pitt. I think that about covers it. Seriously though, this looks like it could be a pretty good ride. Starring Ben Affleck, Rachel Macadams, Helen Mirren, Russel Crowe and a host of others, this political thriller looks like it will hold it's own this weekend and got solid reviews.

Crank 2 - High Voltage
- Lather, rinse, repeat. It's Jason Statham doing what he does best...Sequels. But he's always got the action. So it may not be a total wash. Ba da bum tsh.

And an earlier release date. By two days! EEEEK!

Pefection Revisited

Oh Rob Pattinson...how do I love thee? I just love to look at him. But I'll be the first to admit, sometimes, when he opens his mouth during an interview, my whole image is shattered. If he could just stand there and look pretty, I'd be completely satisfied.

He's a great actor though, and I'm really looking forward to Little Ashes.

Real Housewives

Can we really call them "Real"? Because as far as I can tell not a one of these ladies is really a "housewife". At least not the housewife that many of us average women think of. Ugh.

Looks like TWJ pulled another classic whacky move by running the streets of NYC. Wow. Just wow. How is she so famous? I mean really, HOW? Plus, if she has a degree from Columbia University I'll eat my shoes. I just don't believe it.

Confessions of a Secret Crush - Part Deux

Zac Efron...I know. What the hell happened in my life that I would find myself crushing on a High School Musical star?!?! Seriously, the world has gone topsy turvy.

But I can't help it. Every time I see an interview with him, or photo (minus Vanessa Hudgens...what's up with her? Her face is all scrunchy a la Rene Zellweger and that's just weird!) I melt a little inside. He's confident without being cocky and has a super great sense of humor...or so it seems.

Anyway, you may have to commit me soon. I think this is the beginning of some sort of psychosis.

OK, this is perfection

Real Housewives Of NYC

Posted by john at 9:57 AM 0 comments
OK, RHofNYC......What the heck? RUNNING in the streets of Manhattan? Really, Kelly? For real? We're supposed to believe that load of crap? Now, I don't live in NYC, but the times I have been in the city, I have NEVER EVER seen anyone do anything that stupid. The cabbies alone would run her down in a heartbeat! Must've been a BRAVO cabbie behind her.

The posters at Television Without Pity have been having a field day with Kelly! BRAVO to TWOP!!!

The rest of the episode was "meh". Simon went bananas over his "suprise" for Alex.....but the suprise was to fake her out about NOT going home, then GOING HOME? Oh well.....it was nice they wanted to celebrate w/their kids. I still am not buying it, though. I feel like everything they do is staged and scripted by themselves. ick ick ick

Well, next week looks good. Lets hope.....

Harry Potter

I am totally psyched for the new Harry Potter! It looks so, so good. Might have to make a midnight show! My 13 year old would love it!

Love the trailer!!!

You? Zac? Really?

Posted by john at 9:50 AM 0 comments
I have to say, I'm a little surprised by the Zac love. OK, I saw HSM 1 and 2 (HEY, I HAVE A MIDDLE SCHOOLER)....but he just doesn't do it for me.

He was good in Hairspray, and he isn't bad on the eyes, but compared to some of the other amazing specimens out there....I dunno.

I guess we will agree to disagree! I know, shocking, but true!

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Posted by Kerstin at 8:45 AM 0 comments
Another confession...I'm a Harry Potter FREAK! I love the books. Every one of them. I even went to a midnight release party at Borders for the last book. I analyzed them thoroughly with friends who are similarly obsessed and got into heated debates over what the future of Harry, Ron and Hermione would be. Sad, but true.

So now you know how extraordinarily excited I am for the next movie installment! 93 Days!!!

Confession Time

That Zac Efron...he's starting to grow on me. Who knew? However, I still won't be watching any High School Musical crap. I have to draw the line somewhere.

I am looking forward to this:

Deadliest Catch Returns!

Posted by Kerstin at 8:08 AM 0 comments

Woo hoo! I didn't get into this series until last year when I caught a marathon of the first three seasons on Discovery. I became absorbed in these men's lives and in the risk they take every day just to feed their families. It's incredible!

Deadliest Catch Season 5 begins tonight at 9 p.m. on the Discovery Channel. Check it out. You won't be sorry!

Monday Night Recap

Posted by Kerstin at 8:01 AM 0 comments
House was a little weird last night. They're moving more away from the medical intrigue and into a wide range of emotional issues which, in my opinion, aren't meshing very well.

I was glad to see Chase and Cameron take the next step, but the way the story line went about it was just...well...weird. But whatever.

And I'll be honest, I don't even really remember what the medical issue of the patient was. Something about pesticides I think. Then of course, House being House, forces the patient into a confession of cheating on his wife, and lo and behold, the case is solved. Ugh. That's getting old.

Looks like Amber is making a reappearance starting next week. At least for House. As a hallucination. Again I say ugh. I think House needs a rescue...

The Whack Job in "Reality"

Posted by Kerstin at 11:12 AM 0 comments
Earlier this week, I commented on The Whack Job and her sense of "reality" or lack there of. Well, this month's Harper's Bazaar magazine includes an interview with TWJ and it's priceless beyond words. TWJ isn't completely and utterly unreal. In every sense of the word.

For a self proclaimed intellectual, model, author and columnist, she can be incredibly dense and boy does it show. As evidenced week after week, she how innocuous she really is as part of the NYC Housewives. Who goes on a REALITY show and commenting on how she doesn't lend her name to anything? Really? Really? Oh, wait, you don't lend your name to charities, but holy shit if there's a way to promote yourself, you're all over girl! So what you're saying is that you're too busy for charities, but not too busy for your fabulous life? Got it.

When Kelly interviews people, her favorite question to ask is "If you could be somebody else, who would it be?" Given the chance to answer this herself, she insists, "It would be me. Every single day. With criticism, without criticism. Just to be me. Because what's so bad about that?"

What's bad about that? Um, you're still a whack job. In reality, she comes off as an idiot. And it's so sad that she doesn't recognize it.

Criminal Minds and Jackson Rathbone

Posted by Kerstin at 7:40 AM 0 comments
Criminal Minds is one of my favorite dramas. I don't get to watch it as often as I'd like, but I COULD NOT miss last night! My current obsession, Jackson Rathbone, was a guest star last night and he was phenomenal!

Jackson played Adam Jackson, a hotel handy man who discovers a body in the closet of one of the hotels when helping out by cleaning a room. At the start of the show, we see a shadowy woman being interrogated, as it were, by Reed asking where Adam is...as the show progresses, we find out that Adam is the killer, only he's not really as he has multiple personality disorder which manifested as a result of incredibly physically abusive and humiliating experiences by his step father after the death of his mother. One of his personalities, "Amanda", has taken Adam over to protect him and has taken to killing college boys who are, in essence, doing the same thing to others, humiliating them anyway.

It was an amazing show and Jackson showed he has some serious acting chops. Plus, he's damn cute. And that never hurts! Check out clips from last nights episode here.

Well, looks like Fringe is taking it to the next level! I love it. Leonard Nimoy and John Noble as former lab partners? Get out! This is going to put the show over the top for me.

Where the Wild Things Are

Posted by Kerstin at 9:49 AM 0 comments
OMG! I loved this story as a child. It was my brother's favorite, which was awesome for me since I could listen in to story time. I am both excited and nervous for this live action film of the classic children's tale of a young boy, Max, who is sent to bed after misbehaving and imagines himself setting sail to where the "wild things" are. Of course, the wild things love him, make him their king and are generally all about Max. But Max finds himself missing home after a while. Check out the trailer for the October release of Where the Wild Things Are:

Wednesday Recap: Real Housewives of NYC

Posted by Kerstin at 8:48 AM 0 comments
Another week, but surprisingly little drama...last night's episode was, dare I say it, boring. I tuned out quite a bit.

Some observations though: Kelly, from here on out known as The Whack Job or TWJ for short, continues to show just how out of touch with reality she is. And I refuse to give her any more name recognition on this blog. She irks me. So The Whack Job is what I'll be calling her.

Bethenny, who I like for the most part, seems to be the only person on there who's completely honest with her feelings. She says what is on her mind and doesn't really hold back. Sometimes to her detriment, but when she recognizes she crossed a line, she apologizes. And that's good by me. The fact that she gave Alex a shot at her logo was very generous. Even though she didn't chose Alex's design, it is a definite plug for Alex's design capabilities. So kudos to you Bethenny and Alex.

The tennis match, from my point of view was hysterical. Of course we didn't get the whole match, but having Simon show up as Jill's partner was hilarious! And I'm not sure why everyone says he looked ridiculous. Maybe the white headband? Who knows? I just know it was super entertaining and to see both Ramona and Mario's deflated reaction was priceless. They wanted to show their athletic prowess and ended up looking like jerks for taking this so seriously instead of looking at it as an opportunity to have a really great time. And really Ramona...Mario...who the fuck cares WHO set up the game? Both your blogs this week talked about how it was Mario's idea to set up the game not Jill's. I reiterate. Who. Cares?

Speaking of Ramona and Mario...well, let's not. They are just bothersome in every way. I used to feel the same about Alex and Simon, but I've come to realize with them that they know they appear absurd and desperate, but they don't care. They're all about getting ahead and if people find that ridiculous, well, that's their problem.

However, the whole I Love Simon Van Kempen Facebook page is maybe pushing it a bit too far...

Jill's remodel was...well, not my style. But it sure looked like a Jill Zarin

More drama next week? One can only hope.
